Total eclipse of the heart

 

Il 1982 fu un anno d’oro non solo per l’Italia, che vinse il Mundial di Spagna, ma anche per la musica: un vero capolavoro di quell’anno è uno dei pezzi più suonati degli Anni ‘80, Total eclipse of the heart, cantato dalla trentunenne americana Bonnie Tyler: una power ballad inserita nell’album Faster than the speed of light. Una versione di quasi sette minuti con un lungo assolo strumentale, sforbiciata per l’uso radiofonico e televisivo.

 

 

Cominciamo dai riscontri delle classifiche: primo posto in Australia, Francia, Norvegia, Irlanda, Sudafrica, Canada, Nuova Zelanda, Regno Unito, Stati Uniti e Italia!

Il video, diretto da Roger Mulcahy, fu interpretato dalla stessa Bonnie Tyler e ambientato in un contesto gothic.

 

Infine qualche curiosità: tra i coristi appariva nientemeno che Bryan Adams; in Francia nel 2003 ne venne tratta una versione locale da Kareen Antonn, con la stessa Bonnie Tyler, intitolata Si demain… (Turn around); anche in Italia nel 2011 ne è stata registrata una cover, dal titolo Eclissi del cuore, ad opera di L’Aura e Nek; c’è anche una celebre versione dance, di Nicki French, che risale al 1995; Tori Amos la inserisce abitualmente nella scaletta dei suoi concerti.
